Island the Lakes Gliding Club caters for all flyers. The airfield is a
former wartime RAF station and has been the Lakes' base for 43 years. It
is a good year round training site for gliding. The site is owned by BAE

who operate 2 Beechcraft King-airs
there during the week. Other than a few private light aircraft the club
has the airfield to themselves most if not all weekends.
